Luigi Di Cataldo Il mercato del food delivery nella città di Catania. Un caso di studio interdisciplinare: dalla composizione della categoria al rapporto di lavoro
Obiettivi: La ricerca si propone di descrivere la conformazione assunta dai rider in una realtà urbana del Sud-Italia e di fornire evidenze originali sul rapporto di lavoro con le aziende che si avvalgono di piattaforme digitali. Metodologia: è di tipo induttivo, empirico e interdisciplinare. Le tecniche impiegate afferiscono alla ricerca sociale (138 interviste strutturate, 29 interviste non strutturate, 3 focus group) e all’analisi giuridica (normativa, giurisprudenziale, cartolare e sugli strumenti e le comunicazioni attraverso cui si struttura e sviluppa il rapporto di lavoro). Limiti: le evidenze prodotte risentono, ovviamente, del rapido e incessante mutamento del campo di indagine, mentre i risultati sulla composizione della categoria sono strettamente connessi al contesto geografico. Implicazioni: le informazioni prodotte dalla ricerca possono essere utilizzate per lo sviluppo del dibattito giuridico e politico sulla regolamentazione del settore, a partire dalle vertenze qualificatorie di questi rapporti di lavoro fino alle azioni promosse dagli organismi sindacali. Originalità: La ricerca rappresenta la prima indagine scientifica sulla composizione dei rider in un’area del Sud-Italia. Il metodo d’analisi sul rapporto di lavoro è originale e ha prodotto evidenze inedite.

Luigi Di Cataldo The food delivery market in the city of Catania. An interdisciplinary case study: from the category composition to the employment relationship
Objectives: The research aims to describe the conformation assumed by riders in a Southern Italy urban context and to provide original evidences on the working relationship between riders and companies using digital platforms. The methodology used is inductive, empirical, and interdisciplinary. The techniques used are related to social research (138 structured interviews, 29 unstructured interviews, and three focus groups) and legal analysis (law texts, case law, the contractual models, the tools and the communications through which the employment relationship is structured and developed). Limitations: the evidences produced are obviously affected by the incessant evolution of the investigation field, while the results on the category composition are closely linked to the geographical context. Implications: The information produced by the case study can be used for the development of the legal and political debate on the sector regulation, starting from the disputes on classification of relationship to the actions promoted by the trade unions. Originality: The research represents the first scientific investigation of the category composition in an area of Southern Italy. The analysis's method on the employment relationship is original and it has produced unpublished evidence.
