Sistemi familiari e configurazioni di welfare. Note per una analisi longitudinale
Obiettivi: il testo intende proporre una chiave di lettura longitudinale del rapporto tra famiglie e sistemi di welfare. Metodologia: la metodologia utilizzata è propria della sociologia storica con un approccio di tipo narrativo-processuale. Risultati: la tesi che viene sostenuta riguarda il susseguirsi, nella storia dell’Italia dall’Unità ad oggi, di tre diverse configurazioni sociali entro cui al mutare dei sistemi di welfare ha fatto riscontro un perdurante ruolo delle famiglie nell’assicurare forme di tutela sociale e assistenziale. Limiti e implicazioni: il contributo ha carattere esplorativo nel senso di individuare nessi che meritano ulteriori ricerche e approfondimenti soprattutto rispetto agli andamenti attuali e futuri dopo la pandemia. Originalità: l’approccio longitudinale è originale nel momento in cui si pone l’obbiettivo di affrontare assieme le interrelazioni tra politiche di welfare e trasformazioni familiari entro la cornice configurazionale proposta da Norbert Elias.

Family Systems and Welfare Configurations. Notes for a Longitudinal Analysis
Objectives: the paper proposes a longitudinal interpretation of the relationship between families and welfare systems. Methodology: the methodology used is that of historical sociology with a narrative-process approach. Results: the thesis that is sustained concerns the succession, in the history of Italy from the Unification to the present day, of three different social configurations within which the changing welfare systems have been matched by a persistent role of families in ensuring forms of social and welfare protection. Limits and implications: the contribution has an exploratory character in the sense of identifying links that deserve further research and in-depth study, especially with respect to current and future trends after the pandemic. Originality: the longitudinal approach is original insofar as it aims to address together the interrelationships between welfare policies and family transformations within the configurational framework proposed by Norbert Elias.
