Osvaldo Javier Segovia Zúñiga The Central University of Chile and the “Project 1 + 1”, as a model for the formation of professional skills and for developing relationships with businesses

The Project 1+1, an expressoin of the method “learn by doing”, consists of providing technical assistance and formation in administrative, finance, commercial and accountability areas for a group of microentrepreneurs of a portion of students of the Economic and Administrative Faculty of the Central University of Chile. The importance of the departure of the project resides on the fact that the applied pedagogical model (skill-based approach), emphasizing the educational practice focused on learn by doing, favouring the integral development of the student, preparing him effectively for its working future. The project acquires a bigger relevance when considered that SMEs, that employ 80% of the population and involve more than 30% of the national GDP, are incapable of knowing and comply with current regulations and the demands of a globalized world, thus rending the task of knowledge transferring of a fundamental utility that translate in a better management of themselves, besides representing a way of bringing university and enterprise closer.
